The Picarelli Family Grows!

Happy New Year! Jake is 17months old

I have been fighting off morning sickness this month, and though it is not as bad as my first pregnancy, it is definitely there! Jake has been such a good boy despite having a tired and sick mommy! He is working on using his utensils for eating (still needs some help unless we are prepared for a BIG mess!), and learning new words. He can say "please," and we encourage him to say it often! Other favorites are "star, moon, ball, blanket, balloon, and elephant." We are definitely seeing more signs of the inevitable terrible two...more tantrums and limit testing for sure! Jake is particularly interested in coloring with crayons (and really enjoys coloring on everything except paper), wrestling with daddy, reading books, sorting shapes, stacking blocks, and helping mommy clean the house (he is fascinated by the vacuum cleaner and spray bottles!). Overall, we have had a great start to the new year!

Jacob's Second Christmas

This month Jacob turned 16 months...he is growing so fast! He had a doctors appointment and now weighs 24lbs and is 32inches tall. Big Boy! Jacob is getting better at talking and communicating, and always lets you know exactly what he wants! He loves to sing and dance along with the Backyardagins and Spongebob Squarepants, and shouts with glee when he hears them come on the TV! Jacob is working on feeding himself with both fork and spoon, though he is quite the picky eater (mostly he likes to eat crackers and goldfish). We had a wonderful Christmas, spending Christmas Eve with the Brooks side of the family and Christmas Day/weekend with the Picarelli side in Pennsylvania. Jacob still doesn't quite get the whole idea of Christmas, but definitely enjoyed seeing and opening all the presents! We had a great visit with both sides of the family, lots of food, sharing, and good memories. We also were blessed to find out that JACOB IS GOING TO BE A BIG BROTHER! Yes, Dave and I are expecting again and are due August 14, 2010. 2009 was a year of many blessings for the Picarelli Family!

Jake is 15 months old!

Jake is finally walking! He used his walker as support for the first week, then he was off on his own! He has been so good, and no trouble by getting into anything and everything despite having the new talent of walking....Dave and I feel so blessed! Jake is climbing all over the place, up the stairs (he loves to do that), and all over Daddy like a jungle gym! Jake is getting lots of use out of his playroom in the basement, and has entertained Grandma B and friend Isabella down in the playroom. Jake used his markers for the first time...seemed he got more on his hands than on the paper! Thank goodness for washable markers and crayons! He is learning so many things, like blowing his nose, making finger signs for "more", putting puzzle pieces back in the correct spots, etc. It is such a blessing and joy to watch him grow and learn!
